When I set about preparing a beautiful table, the first thing I think about is the tablecloth that will adorn it, and only then do I select the most suitable plates, glasses, and other accessories that perfectly match. I’ve always been meticulous when it comes to tablecloths: the fabric, the yarn, the workmanship, the beautiful embroidery, the hemlines—these are the details that make the difference; it’s not just the pattern and color that matter.
Personally, I prefer yarn-dyed tablecloths to printed ones. Remarkable examples of this are those manufactured in Umbria and Tuscany, produced by historic weavers who have been creating splendid linen and cotton tablecloths for generations. The tablecloths are custom-made and rigorously finished with hemstitch, crafted with artisanal care using shuttle loom and jacquard weaving techniques. With a rustic yet refined feel, they represent a contemporary interpretation of Renaissance tablecloths and become the protagonists of chic tables, both modern and classic.
